A pair of thieves visiting B. L. Sharp's livery barn on Thursday afternoon took Sharp's favorite driving mare Susie and a red wheeled rubber tired leather top buggy valued at $300. The crime is linked to reports from Richmond with a suspect named Roberts claiming the stolen outfit was offered for sale. Cadiz is noted as a capture location in the ensuing chase.
Mrs Barbara Warner of Syracuse Street Steubenville Ohio reports her husband suffered five years with a weak back and kidney troubles from heavy lifting at work. A man calling himself Roberts of Cincinnati rented a horse and buggy from Sharp in East Liverpool. After a long chase spanning Mingo Richmond Cadiz and Toronto authorities, Roberts was arrested in Cadiz and the rig recovered. He refused to talk.
