The Vermond Literary Society held a regular session last Friday with a challenge debate on the nation's direction. Sherman Floyd argued the affirmative, John Rinker and Heaton led the negative, Smithfield students praised. The meeting closed with plans for a musical program on April 4 and a final general debate.
M C Jones made a trip to AMlinnes Thursday. Wike returned home Saturday. Williams of Columbus visited parents Mr McElroy Belo on High street moving into property on East Hive Lowmiller town Monday. Attended near Unloupart log maple and yemayin, John near.
March 26 report from Fair Play with Valley Home events. The Valley Home Literary Society gathered Friday. Leonora B. Shaw to perform March 29. local visits, farming plans, and residents moving to dairy work noted. A Barn Ridge venue hosted society members. Burris of Steubenville visited. William Bore buys property on Walnut Street formerly owned by St Glinn Graham. Winter term at the college closed last Friday and spring term begins with Prof. sorea as administrator. Beatt and Hout return home on vacation.
To yonto residents report several arrivals and visits including Mrs J. Gh b returning home after eight days in Wells. Owen Stevensoy of Shane visited Knoxville Saturday evening. Lola Pipes flew to Hast Idgerool and returned. Farmers in the Wieighty follow the plow. A singing class under Rev Gray plans an April concert. He Gordon visited bane saike pre on Sunday. History meeting held on Tuesday evening in September.
Miss Mary Pittenger entertained about 30 friends at her home near New Somerset last Friday evening in honor of her 1th birthday. Guests from town included Misses Gertrude and Grace Jackman Ina Weighley Mac Grimes Ruth Hartiet Yeagley and Messrs Harry Luther Gaites. Refreshments were served and guests departed at a late hour wishing Mary many happy returns. Mrs J A MacMillan and Miss Cora Iddings visited their sister Mrs W C Yeagley over Sunday. Grace Jackman Sn visited her cousin Mrs Anderson of Island Creek. John Cronin opened his new Winck aimnith shop Monday morning. Vess Vandyke purchased a new horse today. Mrs Henry Groves of Holt keeping house for Elmer Groves this week while he is finishing his painting in Irondale.
Hopedale reports visitors and residents including W F Bowera CG H Finnicum and J Foley. The Stringer farm oil well is a duster. Aeolian Quartette appeared publicly for the first time led by Carrie Dennis Mary Coleman Faye Watson and Zella Lanning. Pumphrey Hall burned March 20 causing $3000 loss with $1900 insurance.
March 26 report notes Easter service to be held Sunday morning at the M E Church. Several residents are mentioned visiting relatives and shopping, with planned meetings by Rev W H Devore starting April 6 at the town hall.
In Monroeville dated March 26 Miss Della Adame sues her sister Mrs Park Rose of Chester West Virginia. Miss Mae Blazer to teach summer school in Monroeville. Mrs Malvina Saltsman visited Akron for her granddaughter Florence McCauslands wedding. John Hanfields right hand mashed and out of work briefly. Kenneth McClennan sold farm implements March 18 plans to move to Lisbon. His household goods sent to Salineville. Longtime Unla township resident and local wealth holder Mr McClennan celebrated with a farewell by Misses McClennan as neighbors gathered. Mrs David Griffith not recovering from a fall and concerns grow.
In Tiltonville on March 26 funeral services for riverman Thomas Liston were held at 3 30 PM in the M B Church. Pallbearers named John Cusick Jabez Pierce William Medill Robert Cunningham Edward Cuue Robert Sanderson H Jarvis and wife East Liberty were visiting Lis parents last Sunday. The Golden Eagle ladies held a bazaar last Saturday night called the Zend with strong financial and social success. Charles Conaway convalescent after grippe George Wise of Wheeling W Va visited his son Thomas Wise last Sunday. About eight couples enjoyed a Jesse James club evening last Saturday with dancing and puppey served to all. H A West of Wheeling a former resident called on old friends last Sunday. Charles Aken returned home Saturday to see his ailing father Cyrus Aken. O McCune, formerly at the pottery, plans to try for a life, after summer work with John Pyle. Fred Jones of Wellsville Ohio is very sick with typhoid at the home of his wife's parents Mr and Mrs Henry Wast. Sunday School will hold Easter exercises next Sunday evening at 1 30 in the M B Church.

Frank McGee moves back to his farm near Bancroft Pennsylvania. Insurance agent J P B Hanley from Wheeling West Virginia visited town writing news policies. Many locals attended Holliday's Cove preaching at the Christian Church. A pair of youths caught a wild turkey in Roniston area after an hour chase and raffled it to William Valentine of Steubenville who was challenged later by a farmer claiming ownership. they settled by Valentines payment. Mrs Owings improves slowly. J W Scott bedridden with inflammatory rheumatism. G H Henderson and wife attended a silver wedding in Uhrichsville. Jun Robinson, studying at Scio, spent Sunday at home.
George Davis of Limeville Ohio visited friends last week. J D McKinzie left for Belair Ohio. Mart Williams begins building on the McLennan farm. John Call recovering from grip. A Misses McLennan social dance drew a large crowd and was well received. Mr McLennan will move to Lisbon this week. T M George bought horses at Alliance Saturday. Chestnut Grove pre social was a success. J C Dorrence’s house burned Thursday night from a defective flue. some goods saved, insured for 800 dollars.

Moore plans to leave the area for a Bloomingdale dale farm while residents discuss health, with Maley slowly improving, and Uncle John Sath among pioneers awaiting rail work on the Wabash.
