Jerome Thaw faces a lunacy commission request as attorneys avoid strenuous objection hoping a commission may prove Thaw insane, while affidavits from Cobb and several doctors support the inquiry. Jerome plans to show Thaw’s mental state, including family history of insanity, to influence the court.
Local Odd Fellows plan grand entertainments for the Grand Lodge of Ohio meeting in the city May 21 with about 100 delegates. A river excursion on May 23 aboard a 1000-person pleasure boat to Rock Springs park will include music and a park evening, with sessions at the I.O.O.F hall behind closed doors and new officers to be installed.
At Antonia Colorado a Denver and Rio Grande passenger train left the rails tumbling into a chasm. The engine plunged 200 feet. The crew escaped. Several coaches overturned and 35 passengers were injured but none fatally. Survivors credit miracle for saving lives.

San Francisco March 21. Theodore Halsey of the Pacific States Telephone Co. indicted for bribing ten supervisors with 5000 dollars each to refuse a franchise to a rival home telephone firm was arrested at Main Street. Halsey waived extradition and detectives will bring him to San Francisco immediately. Boss Ruef and Mayor Schmidtz are under close guard amid rumors they may flee.

A relief meeting was held at Warrenton to raise aid for flood victims in Warrenton and nearby towns. Col Kautz urged action, with Ragland as chair. committee headed by M L Duvall to collect funds from county, merchants, and newspapers. Five homes were swept away, seven wrecked, forty families in need. sixteen feet of floodwater in Warrenton.
