Car falls 200 feet in shaft injuring worker at Brilliant
William Hardy, an employee at Laughlin shaft in Brilliant, was seriously injured when a car left atop the cage and fell into the shaft while he was descending. The car struck him with a glancing blow, breaking a collar bone and bruising him. he was taken home and not believed to be fatally injured. The cage sustained damage from the plunge.

Farmer Samuel Porter Dies by Self Hanging Near Cadiz
Samuel Porter, a well known farmer living several miles west of Cadiz, took his own life early Monday morning. After his wife left the bedroom he hanged himself from the head of the bed using a large handkerchief. No reason for the deed is known.
