McKinley Day Observed in Steubenville Schools

Memorial observances across Steubenville schools honored President McKinley with pupil orations and recitations. Pupils collected funds for the McKinley memorial, to be announced by Supt. Powell, while exams and promotions were scheduled for the end of January 1902.

Accident at mill leaves man grievously maimed

Edward Hillock arrived from Joliet to work as a switchman at the mill. About 3:30 this morning a locomotive struck him after he signaled others to flee the track. Both legs were amputated and he was taken to his uncle's home as doctors fought for his life.

Jefferson County Teachers Association Meeting Reports

The Jefferson County Teachers Association met in the city with about forty to nearly a hundred attendees from Buparla Toronto and Mingo. Papers discussed included History in Our Schools by Prof. J H. George, Reading Importance, New York Regents System, and the need for an institute funded by teacher contributions to benefit the county.

Crowning Event Honors Harmony Lodge AOUW in Steubenville
