Belmont County saloons shut their doors at midnight Thursday for a three year dry period. Ninety three saloonists cleared stock and unmounted signs per law requiring removal within 30 days after the election. Traders shipped hard liquor to wet towns and bargain sales occurred as Uhrichsville and Tuscarawas counties also closed with limited disturbances.
