Paroled man pardoned after 1895 manslaughter case
Andrew Schatz, confined since 1895 for manslaughter in Jefferson county and paroled two years later, vanished for 11 years before being found in West Virginia. Governor Harris pardoned him on warden and board approval after he promised to finish his term. Schatz had killed Peter Waytecko in 1895. he pleaded guilty to manslaughter and received a ten year sentence.
