A. R. Watkins of the United Mine Workers boards met in Columbus with mining leaders to draft laws and amendments. They report eighty three miners killed in seven months last year, seven by electrocution from faulty insulation, plus numerous injuries. The group aims to secure legal protections and advance bills in the coming general assembly, noting two thirds of mining is machine aided.
