Thanksgiving Week Socials Light Up Steubenville Scene
A parade of visitors and locals celebrate Thanksgiving across Steubenville. Notables include Miss Clara Glasson, Mrs. E. L. Hammond, and Bert Wells, with extended stays by families in Cadiz, Shadyside, and Pittsburgh. Weddings, dances, and church events add to the holiday bustle amid obituaries, travels, and community notices.
Death of Mrs Elizabeth Irvine a sudden tragedy at home
Elizabeth Boreland Irvine, 38, wife of James Irvine, died suddenly after a lunch-time illness at their North Fourth Street home on Thanksgiving day. Born in Carroll County to the late Rev J B Boreland, she married James Irvine in 1899 and lived at the Irvine farm before moving to Richmond city two years ago. A devoted member of the United Presbyterian church and Young Ladies Missionary society, she left a grieving husband and young son John, and her mother Mrs Elizabeth Boreland. The community mourns a kind, Christian woman whose life touched many.
