Ohio Fire Insurance Committee To Report Findings Subcommittee

Ohio legislative fire insurance committee, after lengthy discussion, will present a report drafted by a subcommittee led by Daniel Mooney. It recommends modifying the antis compact law to allow rate fixing with a maximum cap, and empowers the insurance superintendent to withdraw from unprofitable states after two consecutive losses. It urges penalties for wilful misrepresentation, opposes co insurance legislation, and calls for rates on omnibus risks not to overcharge. It also suggests refunds for added hazard charges when hazards are removed and prefers licensing and supervision of adjusters and agencies. The panel notes potential rate reductions over the past decade and asks for further study on penalties, licensing, and building code issues.
