Judge Richards defines a nuisance in the Sar ratt cur n case and limits outdoor music to subdued tones. He rules Nickelodeons are legitimate entertainment but prohibits continuous loud advertising near others, allowing a subdued external horn or ending the practice.
The Harrison County Bar met April 11 1908 at 6 p m and unanimously endorsed Thomas D Healen for the new judgeship in the Third Sub Division of the Eighth Judicial District. They pledged support and assistance to secure the nomination, noting Ohio Legislature created the extra post while Jefferson Harrison and Tuscarawas counties share resident judges.
Ben Myers a colored man from Washington county Pennsylvania, held in the hotel Lacey lockup, attempted to kill himself twice while intoxicated. He first seized a hot brick from the stove and was overpowered by lodgers. later in the county jail he used a small penknife to slash near the right jugular, bleeding badly and slipping into unconsciousness. Dr Laughlin stopped the bleeding and Myers may die from the second attempt. A fellow prisoner had left the knife in the corridor for him to find.
Rev J S Garvan was inducted into the pastorate of the United Presbyterian Church at Calcutta. Steubenville Presbytery met there with Rev F E Deane of Salineville as moderator and Dr F D Findley of Wellsville as stated clerk. Rev Eakin gave the pastor address and Rev W J Engle presented the charge to the people.

Rev George T Humble former Steubenville boy suspended from his Lee tonia Ohio church sparked a major congregation split. About sixty members led by Michael Briggs withdrew their letters and plan to form another church citing unfair discipline while noting two women testified against Humble. The case draws local support for the minister and questions over the suspension.

William Webster dies from a February 17, 1908 gunshot wound at Wolf Run. The verdict finds David Johns responsible, noting a quarrel escalated from threats to a fatal shot after he fetched a shotgun. The report recommends indicting Johns for first degree murder. Auditor Myers returns from Bellaire after visiting kinsman Pearson Myers.
