Plans for Oil Drilling at Follabsbee Field Prompts Ball Park Move
The Realty Company begins drilling at No 5 on the Mahan farm and plans a new well behind second base at League Park near Follansbee. A second site west of the grounds and a big La Belle tract gusher, producing about 30 barrels hourly, boost hopes of a major oil find threatening the national game. The Follawsbee team loses use of the ball park and seeks alternate grounds amid the push for oil exploration.
