Braves and Yankees Set for 1958 World Series Opener
The Braves, after clinching a second straight pennant in a late-season surge, appear poised to challenge the Yankees as NL dominators for years. With a young pitching staff led by Joey Jay Carl Wiley Bob Buhl and Juan Pizarro plus veterans Spahn and Burdette, Atlanta seems ready to contend. The Yankees, similarly stocked with youth and depth, look unlikely to relinquish power soon under Casey Stengel as the era of New York dominance continues.
