Warriors, Braves Triumph in Rainy Homecoming Parade

The 1970 homecoming week at STHS drew strong student support and standout floats led by the Rober Choir junior class and French Club. Warriors defeated Streator 46 to 0 and Braves won 48 to 6, marking the first Warrior homecoming victory in six or seven years. Queen Peggy Jones and court members Ann McMillin Mary Lorke Colleen Birdsell Janet Matznick led the celebration.

A Look at the Educational Assoc

A special Sterling Township High School Education Association meeting was held on Oct. 22. Dr. Michael Bakalis spoke about his bid for State Superintendent of Public Instruction, currently held by Ray Page, followed by a Q and A. The group promotes professional practice, active member participation, progressive education, and academic freedom. Membership is open to all certified instructional personnel. Meetings occur on the second Wednesday each month. Executive committee: Donald Wiggington president, Thomas Tinley president-elect, Trudy Long secretary, Robert Henard treasurer.

Letters complain of disruptive study hall behavior

Five students urge control of open study hall at Sterling High School with freshmen and sophomores causing noise. They suggest limited talking and a male supervisor, threatening possible termination of open study.
