The senior class will present the mystery comedy Ramshackle Inn in the high school gym on Thursday and Friday November 29 and 30. Chicago production with Pitts in the lead has inspired the Sterling cast under Doris Burritt.
The 8.H.8. teams clash at 8:00 in the stadium with a flag raising National Anthem by the band, a hall performance, and field letter formations. After the game the annual Homecoming Dance follows with alumni invited and a well known orchestra under G A A and 8 Club sponsorship led by co chairmen Verla Brewer and Jim Wolf.
Younghill Kang spoke to the 8 H 8 student assembly on October 10 recounting his boyhood in free Korea and under Japanese rule before emigrating to the United States. He described Korea as a poet rich nation preying to aggression and praised America as great due to its citizens' cultural contributions.
This year Rural Hi-Tri has about seventeen members. The club is for girls living in the country unable to attend evening meetings. It meets at noon on the first and third Tuesdays each month. Officers are Arlene Neitzke president Carol Balster vice president and Ruth Detweiler secretary treasurer.
The Rotary Club hosts the first Junior Rotarians for the year Tom Hoffman Jim DeVoe and Jerry Linton. Seniors are selected to attend weekly meetings for three weeks with dinner and a guest speaker on current topics.
Dramatic Club welcomes 17 new members from tryouts held Monday. New members include Florence Pratt Joan Wright Jean Saunders Mary Ann Masher Ne isey Mac on Marge Cameron Jack Ranger Golan Halpin a Tresenriter Lois Habben Ja iks Margery Moulton Mary Mar and Bernice Stern. Officers for this year are president Barbara Jo Swain vice president Bob Black secretary treasurer Lillian Jacobs program chairman Joy Pepper publicity chairman Betty Bull.
State Superintendent of Public Instruction recognizes Sterling High for another year. The certificate sits with County Superintendent R. M. Robertson for signature before being sent to Sterling Township High School to display for staff and students.
The Debate Club elected officers for 1945 46 with Ray Heilner as president Sue as vice president Joyce Gold as secretary treasurer and Roger Larson as parliamentary. Preliminary debates are under way and coach Mr Robbins will select the debate squad. A noon meeting schedule is planned with room for debaters.
The Romani Hodierni elected officers during a Friday counseling period. First Consul and Second Consul positions were filled with Pabet resident and secretary roles assigned to Pols Lambrecht while Quaestor is Bob Giffrow. Next meeting before Thanksgiving at noon.
A Wednesday evening senior class Hallowe en Frolic in the gym drew a large student crowd with many parents attending. The floor show directed by Sue Williams featured Gilbert Fidalgo and several duets while Joy Pepper and Tom Hoff man led the event with numerous committees handling novelties refreshments and more.
S H S band will perform at the homecoming football game. President Bill Robinson and others lead a busy season with preparation already underway for a homecoming dance with Dixon on October 26. Key football players may miss some band performance.
The Robed Choir elected officers with Kenny Gould as president and Jenee Pennington as vice president along with secretary treasurer Joan Holler. The fifty member group has finished Christmas music and plans several programs including one for Navy Day.
