The SHS girls urge boys to ditch greasy looks and embrace clean pressed shirts belts and short hair. They praise neatness over leather jackets and Elvis like styles, noting jeans khaki or corduroy with belts. The SCRIPT credits Elvis Engle and Tyrone Ziegler for photos.
Longanecker and Johnson star in a two act mystery comedy presented in the girls gym with matinees next Tuesday and Wednesday and two evening shows on Wednesday and Thursday at 8 00. Cast includes Gary Longanecker Kay Book Sue Johnson Walt Kilgus and others under Carl Hawkins directing with Jane Hauger as assistant.
The Seven Keys committee leads stage crew Larry Zeigler and Duane Zellar lighting by Ken Tavaili Brad Ludwig and Jim Breich sound effects Steve Heller properties Nan Reiter tickets Judy Bressler programs Judy Pettorini and Mary Challand make up Dorothy Whitaker Mary Kay McGlaughlin Phil Woessner Gwen Machaell and Jean Meyers Janet Eetzell with Mr Nearhing's art class aiding posters. Admission 35 cents for students 75 cents for adults for the evening show. Community support urged.
The Sterling High School debate squad travels to La Grange Illinois on Saturday November 16 for a pre season tournament. The affirmative team includes Judy Williams and Gloria Kalen while the negative team features Oren Meyer and John Williams as they argue the proposition That All United States Foreign Economic Aid Should be Administered Through the United Nations.
In a recent student council vote a temporary city government was chosen. Oren Meyer became mayor for one day while Doug Selden Sue Scott Ken Engel and Jean Myers won commissioner posts and Phyllis Woessner was elected city judge. They met with Branda u and Olson to decide assignments.
Worthal, the buck-toothed down trodden cartoon character created by Dick Bibler, appears in SHS as a new college humor figure. He flunks biology, is late to class, and is ground under school wheels yet persistently mocks teachers and administrators.
