Graduation set for 177 at Sterling Township High School

One hundred seventy seven Sterling Township High School seniors will receive diplomas at the Sixty First Annual Commencement next Tuesday June 2 at 7 p.m. in the SHS stadium. Judge Vera M. Binks will speak, with Richard Williams and Ann Schuneman delivering remarks and Pomp and Circumstance played by the school band. Alumni dinner follows on June 13 at St Pauls Lutheran Church.

Davis Siblings Lead Student Council Officers Election

Fred Davis was elected president and Bill Davis vice president in the all school election on May 21. Susie Schick became secretary and Jane Weatherwax treasurer. Fred and Bill are active in multiple clubs, Susie runs freshman class, and Jane participates in Latin Club.

Machael Hess and Powell named to head annual staff

Gwen Machael and Marianne Hess are named co editors of the KY 60 edition of the Blue and Gold. Robb Powell is the new business manager per Mr. Neahring. Gwen juggles Dramatics Club band and Junior-Senior Prom council. Marianne is active in Tri M and Student Council with Latin contest experience. Powell serves Science and Spanish Clubs and prom decoration. The article ends with an odd trivia line about watches.

Art Exhibit Opens at Central National Bank in Sterling

Students of Mr. Neahring present paintings from Sterling locales at a June 1 opening at Central National Bank. The exhibit showcases scenes from around Sterling and notes a light humorous line about someone living in the past.

Classes Elect New Officers

Denny Stewart will preside at next year's senior class as president after elections held May 19 for sophomores and juniors and May 21 for freshmen. Other officers include John Gerber as vice-president and Fred Davis as secretary and treasurer with two Student Council members chosen.

Y’all Come Promers Dance Beneath The Southern Moon

An open air prom fantasy unfolds with antebellum charm and Hollywood glamour. Prom queens mingle with stars under moonlit gardens while a Sterling Theatre premiere dazzles with flash bulbs and autograph seekers before couples drift into the dim interior for opening night. The Elks Club watches as dawn approaches and bluegrass returns next Thursday.

The Post-Prom Planning Committee invites all juniors and seniors and their dates to a three-floor red-carpet theatre party after the Junior-Senior Prom on Thursday night June 4. Free tickets are available at the high school office. Enjoy a movie, food and beverages, dance music, prizes, and a surprise program as a gift from the parents.
