Latin Club Delivers Caesaric Field Ceremony at SHS

SHS Latin department led by Thomas Tinley staged a Caesaric rite on the athletic field with drums. A seven by four foot catapult built by students fired four shots at a wicker effigy and hit the fire, ending in a quiet prayer session.

Spanish Club Chicago Trip by Mimi Sandeen

Thirty six students from Spanish classes with chaperons Mrs Zigler and Miss Straw traveled to Chicago on May 8. They saw Man of La Mancha at Candlelight Dinner Playhouse with theater in the round, dinner around stage, raised stage for view, plus lighting and orchestral accompaniment. They also visited O’Hare and shopped at Randhurst. The year ends May 24 with a dinner meeting announcing next year’s officers and a travel talk on Mexico.

Future Homemakers of America elect Sterling officers

Sterling Future Homemakers of America met on Wednesday May 19 at 7 00 p m for a candlelight ceremony. Degrees and awards were conferred and officers for the 1971 72 school year were installed. Names include Sandy Long as president Darlene Shank as first vice president Mary Wise as vice president Debbie Feather as secretary Diane Warner as treasurer Becky Geiger Charlene Hay as projects Thelma Slifer as historian Marilyn Barnett Robin Lathrop as degrees Chris Ahistrand as public relations and Donna Hester Cheryl Adams as recreation Chapter mothers are Mrs Long Mrs Wise Mrs Feather and Mrs Shank The advisors are Miss Wurmle and Mrs Scott The 5 THS Home Ec classes presented their annual Style Show before the ceremony Each girl modeled her chosen garment Refreshments followed Acknowledgements were given to Swartsey s Florists and the Data Control class
