Mrs Farris Takes Over Miss Merchant Spanish Classes

Miss Esther Merchant left S H 8 to teach Spanish and freshman English at Bensonville High on March 12. Mrs Allen Farris now leads Spanish and sophomore English with prior experience heading English and modern language departments in Nashville. Her southern accent pleases students and Spanish learners say it adds something.

Dramatic Club To Stage Three One-Act Plays

The Fifth Avenue Players under Miss Juvier and Miss Burritt will present three one-act plays the latter part of April. Two plays will be shown to the student body and all three to the public in the evening. Cast and student directors are yet to be chosen.

Sterling High To Stage Spring Concert At Coliseum

The Sterling High School Band conducted by J. J. Richards and the Robed Choir directed by David Stryker present their first joint spring concert Friday April 6 at 8 pm in the Coliseum. The program features varied band selections and two Robed Choir pieces with solos and a forthcoming May 3 concert by the Orchestra and Girls' Chorus.

Loring Campbell Presents Mystifying Fun Program

Students were entertained yesterday by magician and ventriloquist Loring Campbell. Kathryne Campbell assisted as narrator for a two person program of fun and mystery including The Magician's Wand, A Chinese Buzzie, A Patriotic Trick, and The Magic Snake. The season’s feature illusion was The Headless Specter.

Spanish Club Dinner and New Flags Added to Room

The Spanish Club held a chili dinner in the Home Economics building hosted by Miss Merchant after a contest to collect Spanish articles. Winning class teams were honored for the effort on Thursday noon March 8. The club also bought a set of flags for all South American countries to place in the Spanish room. Only man who's glad when business touches bottom is a deep sea diver.

J. J. Richards Returns as Long Beach Band Conductor

J. J. Richards has returned from Long Beach California where he led the celebrated Long Beach Municipal Band once under Herbert L. Clarke. During his absence Henry Burch of Morrison high school conducted the local band and introduced Morrison selections. The group rehearses for its annual spring concert on April 6 and thanks Mr. Burch for his courtesy.

Robes Trimmed by Mrs Martins Class for Chorus Ride

Mrs Martins advanced clothing class mends robes for the Robed Choir as they prepare for the spring concert. Students Doris Pfundstein Janet Ellmaker Donna Adams Maxine Kaiser and Betty Lansford contributed to the sewing project.

Counseling rooms contribute to Red Cross efforts by making cartoon scrapbooks for hospitalized soldiers and collecting yarn leather semi precious stones old costume jewelry metal goods and punches for use in hospital and rehabilitation center recreation programs.
