FFA Parent and Son Banquet Set for March 18 at St John’s
The Future Farmers of America at S.H.S. near nationwide 1936 tradition hosts a Parent and Son banquet March 18 at St John’s Lutheran Church. Ron Ricklefs speaks of a carefully planned program featuring Dan Langell magic acts, the S.H.S. Boys Quartet, project talks by several students, and illustrated slides. Green Hands, freshmen lacking full member qualifications, have their own officers and must earn twenty five dollars on a project to advance.

Annual Red Cross Chest Filling Meeting in Twin Cities
The Inter-City Red Cross Council met at the YWCA on Tuesday March 4 at 7 30 P M. Miss Harris sponsors the Junior Red Cross from Sterling Rock Falls and Community high schools. The group prepared a bulletin on activities and planned filling the annual chest for underprivileged children overseas with pencils pens erasers toothpaste brushes towels wash cloths and rulers.

Future Diplomats at Augustana College
The debate team traveled to Rock Island Illinois for the Augustana Invitational, a two day event with Illinois and Iowa high schools. The Negative posted five wins and one loss while the Affirmative struggled. the topic was That all American citizens should be subject to conscription for essential service in time of war. Floy Allen Don Stewart faced the competition as the Affirmative with Norma Miller Earl Bailey on the Negative team.

Collegians For a Day At Beloit College
The Sterling Township High School band under Darrell Dunham toured Beloit College Wisconsin, traveled 80 miles by Thomeway Bus Line, and performed a concert for the student body featuring works by Palestrina Tchaikovsky Gould Bach Saint Saens Heifitz and a Gettysburg Address adaptation with Arthur Magon as narrator. The group also toured campus and dined in the college cafeteria.

TB Shots Offered to S H S Students
Miss Kirk Whiteside County Nurse will address the student body on March 10 about tuberculosis shots. Shots will be given March 17 with testing on March 20. Red Cross to have an X ray machine in April.
