Tracksters End Fine Season At SHS Meet Run
SHS track team, under Coach Dwayne Dietz, won six of eleven meets and sent six athletes to state in Champaign. They finished 3rd in the District and 2nd in NCIC, with Dan Needy, Ken Harrington, and Larry McClintock starring in multiple events. Athletes set several school records including Needy in the 440 and Woessner in the discus.

Clubbers Have Successful Season
SHS Golden Warrior golf team posted an 8 win 1 loss season and strong tournament showings. They finished 6th in the district and tied for 3rd in the NCIC, extending a home winning streak to over two years behind runner up Pete Shaffer who shot 76. Congratulations to Coach McMurry and the squad.

Warriors Tennis Team Caps Historic Season
The Golden Warriors under Coach Hall finished 13-1, swept the District title for the first time in 25 years, and won the NCIC crown. They opened April 8 by beating Clinton, then defeated E Rockford Moline Moline and Freeport in a quadrangular, losing only to Rock Island. In the district they beat Rock Island for the title, with Kannaka and Shaffer placing second in doubles. They also claimed NCIC with Lorenz as singles champ and Kannaka Shaffer second in doubles.
