Army Navy Tests Set for Wednesday at Sterk Township High
The third Army Navy College Qualifying Test for the Specialized Training Program and the Navy College Program V-12 will be offered Wednesday March 15 at 9 00 AM at Sterk Township High School. Eligible students age 17 to 21 who graduate by July 1 1944 may take the test. taking the test does not obligate enlistment. The programs provide college level instruction at government expense and may lead to a commission after further training.

Juniors Sponsor Dance After DeKalb Game

Debate Team Ties For Fifth In Tournament
Debaters from Sterling tied for fifth place in the tenth annual high school tournament at Augustana College, competing over two days with six rounds. Mendota won the meet, Sterling defeated Burlington Kewanee and East Moline, and the local team gained experience during the trip with coach Mr Robbins and Miss Peterson.

The S H S debate squad traveled to Mendota on Saturday February 12 for the North Central Illinois conference meet. The team tied DeKalb for second place while Mendota won top honors for the second straight year. The Sterling negatives won all three debates. the affirmative went 0-3.

The second year Spanish class took the American Council Alpha Standard tests and Marcia Bogaard achieved the highest average. Bettijeanne McNeil and Verdetta Wolfe followed with strong marks. A Sterling High senior returned from Mexico sharing old Spanish customs. Senorita Joanne Eberhardt posed on a burro.
