Robed Choir to perform at North Central Conference event in Chicago
The Robed Choir is selected as the sole musical group for a morning program at the Palmer House on March 23 in Chicago. Soloists include Jim Baird Sandra Geiseman and Bob Brown with Kenny Kosier and Bob Brown as accompanists. The event gathers over 1 000 representatives from about 20 states with Sterling High students traveling at 5 00 a m by chartered buses.

A R DeVoe, born in Argyle Wisconsin and raised in Freeport, built a career as a teacher and administrator. He earned degrees from Northwestern and the University of Chicago, served as a U S Army lieutenant, led Illinois National Guard, taught shop and various subjects, and later became assistant principal while enjoying fishing gardening and bridge. He is married with a son and active in church and Masons.

Honor Society Offers $100 Scholarship to Senior
The National Honor Society offers a $100 scholarship for a senior needing financial aid for higher education. Applicants must be in the upper third and demonstrate financial need. The committee will select a winner and an alternate, announced at the spring Honor Society induction.

Sterling High Presents Combined Concert March 14
The annual concert by Sterling High vocal and instrumental departments will be in the fieldhouse on March 14. About 360 students will perform with 300 singers and 60 band members. The program includes folk songs Negro spirituals marches and sacred numbers for Lent. Numerous solos will be sung with accompanists Ouray Gerber and Kenny Kosier. The concert is free and open to the public.

Tuberculosis Testing Program At Sterling Township High School
Miss Ruth Kirk will explain the tuberculosis tests to students and staff on March 15. Free tests will be given March 21 by a local physician, with parent permission required. The doctor will read results March 24 and provide free X rays for positives. All are urged to participate.

The Robed Choir will sing the fourth annual Olivet to Calvary cantata on Palm Sunday at St John s Lutheran Church. The program recalls the last days of Jesus life from palm strewing to crucifixion and resurrection with several solos backed by piano and organ.
