Sophomores Sponsor Valentine Venture Dance

The sophomores host the Valentine Venture dance in the girls gym on Thursday from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. The B Flats provide music and decorations fit the theme. Tickets cost 60 cents for singles and one dollar for couples. Committee chairs include Judy Wyatt decorations Richard Seldon arrangements Judy Powell publicity Vicky Wing tickets and Ed Fassler refreshments.

Senior Glory Day Planned for School Thursday

The annual senior recognition will be observed Thursday. After the game Saturday seniors will attend a party in the Girls' gym. Donna Wheelock and her committee plan the day program and party with Jim Barlow as general dance chairman. Margie Nance heads publicity, while Dean Peterson and Dana Johnson handle decorations.

The Promenaders Form An Organized Square Dance Club

Early last fall thirty five students chartered the Promenaders under sponsor Mr. Jack Barnes with Pat Barlow as president and Marilyn Warren as vice president. A drafting committee led by Warren works on a constitution as the club plans an exhibition at a home basketball game.

Nita Bowman Wins School Award In Betty Crocker Contest

High school seniors Reeda Bowers Gail Buchanan Phyllis Holloway Neta Bowman and Nancy Balster entered the Betty Crocker Homemaker contest at Sterling High. The winner receives a Betty Crocker pin a state contest entry a Britannica set and substantial scholarships including a 1500 college award plus a five day Washington trip. The All American Homemaker of Tomorrow will be named in a 1955 program with a 3500 college prize and a diamond pin.

Hall Hop Is Success at Sterling High

The Hall Hop sponsored by Sterling High National Honor Society closed on a gay note with students from four schools dancing in the halls. Cynthia Grennan led the event as general chair, with Ruth Williams handling refreshments and Gale Dillon records. Proceeds go to a newly established NHS scholarship fund for Sterling High students needing financial aid.

Five Represent Sterling in State Band and Chorus

Five Sterling High School students toured Urbana to participate in a two day all state music festival. Lois McNeil performed in the band while Ann Burkholder Beverly Foss John Marshall and Jim Schueler sang in the massed chorus.

Individual Contestants Compete in Geneseo Speech Events

The Yakkity Yak speech department led by Mr. Paul Clopper prepares eight categories for Geneseo on February 19. Col in Stewart Leona Kurk enter extemporaneous speakings while Ruth Williams Frank Wagner prepare radio speaking.
