Naval Officer Narrates Delivery of Destroyer
U S naval officer Lieutenant F E Logsdon describes delivering one destroyer to Great Britain at Halifax on November 28. The Shubrick, a World War destroyer, spent years in dry dock after Newport to San Pedro. Overhaul began a year ago as crews dwindled, and convoys carried five to six ships with 58 on board. Halifax training left a skeleton crew to prepare the British, while others returned to Washington. The issue of pre announcement aimed to trap U boats but press note leaked ahead of orders.
