Sterling High School breaks ground for new track
The first dirt load was dumped on the north side lot between Third and Fourth avenues. The project follows long consideration by the school board and will fill and grade the site opposite the football field. Architect Robert Work of Chicago and the board oversee the work.

High School Job Placement Efforts Accelerate
Sixty two students have actually been placed in jobs since September 1935. By year end the total will exceed one hundred. Shop, home economics, and commercial teachers often recommend students from day and evening schools with administration consensus. Local factories and businesses are asked to support and employ graduates.
English Department Offers Varied Program for Seniors and Juniors
The senior English program, led by Miss Lovrien, surveys literature from the tenth to the twentieth century and includes reports on contemporary writers using library tools. Juniors, taught by Miss Rawson, focus on American literature with grammar and original poetry and short stories, while sophomores study Literature and Composition in two sections using Teaching texts and Trail Fires.

The 1936 Blue and Gold will be printed soon after May first under senior editor Margaret Birch. Seniors run luncheons plays dances and rummage sales to support the annual, which is not a profit venture but the classs main activity. Proceeds from minor events plus annual sales help the class break even.
