Band Concert Set For May Eight At Coliseum

The band plans a May eight concert at the Coliseum with an 8 16 P M start. Opening with Salute to Sterling by J J Richards, the program features Stradella by Flotow Military Symphony in Gossec First Swedish Rhapsody by Leidzen. After intermission the Secular numbers include Processional by Riegger L Arlesienne by Bizet Nocturne by Mendelssohn Bisa s Processional from Lohengrin Wagner and Colonel Bogey by Kenneth J Alford.

Dramatic Club to Rewrite Constitution

Plans are underway to rewrite the club's Constitution. A boy and a girl from each class will serve on the committee: sophomores Judy Penley and Ruben Chapman, juniors Barbara Coe and David Swehla, and seniors Sylvia Baden and David Clark. A picnic may be planned once weather permits.

CAPA CLUB FESTIVAL IN DIXON APRIL 10

A Spanish Club festival is set for Dixon on April 10 featuring all area Spanish clubs. The gala includes dancing plays Spanish movies and refreshments with a fun community atmosphere.

Pep Club details and plans at 8.H.5 school

The Pep Club formed to boost school spirit and sportsmanship, with about sixty members advised by Miss Faye Phillip and Miss Ann Heath. A planning committee led by Donna Eshleman arranged bake sales to fund uniforms, produced pep songs, and created fight slogans and visual symbols for events. Future aims include skits, caps or uniforms, and a possible new band, with encouragement to join next year.

Get Acquainted Coke Party by Student Librarians

Student librarians sponsor four Get-Acquainted Coke Parties on April 16 from 4:00 to 5:00. Librarians invite students from eleven Whiteside County schools to H.S. for reports on year activities, with a musical program, skit, and refreshments provided.

Drivers Recommendations for Sterling Township High School Club

The Safety Driver's Club plans spring actions including appointing student traffic observers, requesting speed signs, placing No Parking signs at the bus stop and along Miller, electing officers, installing a No U-Turn sign at Fourth Avenue and Miller, adding a stop-and-go light at Fourth Avenue and LeFevre, and banning backing into parking spaces. The group may seek sponsorship from the Chicago Motor Club.

Easter Sunrise Service Hosted by Local Youth Groups

Sterling and Rock Falls high school students present a Sunrise Service at Congregational Church at 6 30 A M with music from guest groups, readings, and prayers led by Jo an Oltmann and Carl Huffman. A breakfast follows at the YMCA with tickets 60c and reservations by April 3.

F F A Members to Enter Projects in District Contest

In April F F A members will enter thirteen projects for the foundational Awards covering beef corn home improvement and farm beautification. Winners receive two plaques one for the school and one for the member. District contest includes five counties in Northern Illinois and state advancement follows.
