In a brief notice, Fe Steele of Jefferson is placed on committees related to public lands and military officer privileges, including soldiers' home issues, as part of ongoing civic appointments.
Scott strolls near Steele City on Wednesday and finds a Black man asleep in a tree nest. He invites him down and, after urging with a public safety item, assists the man to town where he weighs eighteen pounds on the scales.
The Fairbury Enterprise faults last week’s sentencing of the hide thief, arguing the Standard should have stayed with its prior stance. John James and family returned from the Indian Territory after selling out there to seek better fortune. Sickness and crop failures, plus sorghum and homing diets, overwhelmed Nebraska settlers.

George Baker's little boy had his leg broken by Geo Schapion while playing football at school.
