Jas Siever moved into Mrs Barber's house. Mrs C J Clark visited Fairbury. Art Hamley and John Bugbee serve on the Fairbury jury. Rain fell Monday night and cooled. William McAvoy of Wallace Nebraska called here. F M Harney of Julian stayed with G E Wright’s family. Mr and Mrs Joslin and others visited the Petersons. Prof Lonie Barner gave an illustrated lecture at the M E church. A trunk was stolen from R H Watters near the station, items missing included lasso rope revolver boots spurs and a stick pin. G M Hitchcock editor of the Omaha World Herald and Judge Good campaigned in Jefferson county.
Walt Willey returns from Iowa with prized hogs and cattle, Clarence Whitney and Mrs. Lee visit Osborn. The Whitneys depart with family for Osborn. Uncle Billy Crane and descendants go fishing in the Dakotas. Mrs. Reyner visits Marquette Neb and Chas Alexander to Thedford for winter work. Page also mentions clock sales, a Kansas City trip, and a newspaper office visit.
A humorous boast from The Hardware Mat extols a clock supposedly never failing. One clock lacks a bell, another has no legs, the third is dusty yet honest. It promises a final alarm clock that is knockproof and dustproof and rings loudly.
Last Saturday night spectators witnessed a dramatic ascent attempt by Dare Devil Green. The balloon tangled with telephone wires and gas ignition briefly lit his suit while he hung just below the line. Lawrence Bothscheider acted quickly to free Green by cutting his wrist bands and releasing the parachute lines, saving him from a fatal drop.
