Local notes report theatrical events at the opera house Lena Rivers show dates November 25 and 27, and a special millinery sale at Hazel Grimm & Co beginning November 25. Community happenings include visits, weddings, school basketball results, rail work, a fire at Odell’s light plant, and plans for future auctions and farm moves.
Fresh oysters are offered each Friday and Saturday as last year. Orders for Thanksgiving should be placed by November 29 to ensure supply. Contact Cc. I. Clark to leave an order.
J. D. Minkler sold his stock of merchandise to M. R. Scott of Shelby on Wednesday morning and Scott took possession. That evening the same stock sold to P. D. Ereheart, who took possession Thursday morning. Ereheart, longtime head clerk at L Clarks, promises up-to-date stock and a square deal.
Last Friday price offers stood at 1.75 per bushel for wheat 5 cents for foreoorn and 50 cents for bats. Mr Phelps with 23 years in Steele City says these are the highest values he can pay for each grain. He notes limited supply with few ears of wheat left and likely local demand will absorb most corn. The wheat market dipped early in the week.
