Local notice lists Ralph and F A Moon & Son of Fairbury Nebraska offering painting and cabinet making services with carpentry on site. Mentions a Ladies Aid event and a December date, with a focus on ear painting and tent setup details.
Local items note Henry Green on the sick list and a December 2 bazaar by the Ladies Aid. Reports include visits by Mrs. Lenker and Dr Taylor, community events at Fairbury, Munden and Odell, a volleyball purchase, a Gold Wedding anniversary, a Royal Neighbors convention, and a near accident involving the Messmer family.
Frances Elizabeth Turner born February 14 1856 in Middle Grove Missouri died November in Beatrice Nebraska after living in Nebraska 43 years and Steele City seven. Funeral Thursday November 13 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev Bruce Davis officiating. She is survived by four children two sisters and two brothers and many in attendance included relatives from Ponca and Missouri. National Missions Week noted with church activities and federation talks in Steele City and Table Rock.
The Children express heartfelt thanks to many kind friends for assistance during the hours of their sad bereavement and for the many beautiful floral offerings. One never knows how many friends they have until trouble comes.
Obituary notices report Frances Turner, sister of the Degree of Honor, passing to the Eternal City of God on November 11 1924. The society vows a 30 day charter draping and tokens of sympathy to her three daughters and one son. The item also notes Earl Hudson dies from a gunshot wound while hunting near Diller Nebraska on November 16 1924.
The notice clarifies that Fay Clarks' baby boy is named Hubert Francia, correcting a prior misprint that had listed Richard Francis. The error has been amended in the record.
A worthwhile program is prepared for a box social Friday night November 21 at the school house seven miles NW of Steele City and six miles SW of Endicott. Prizes for the neatest young lady and the laziest man. Mabel Adee, teacher.
The United States Civil Service Commission announces an examination on December 13, 1924, at Fairbury for the third class postmaster role in Steele City Nebraska. Application blanks may be obtained from the postmaster at Bessie City or from the Civil Service Commission in Washington DC. W. R. Jones, Acting Secretary Local Service Board.
