Open meeting of K. and L. of S. lodge hosts visitors

The K. and L. of S. lodge held an open meeting last Monday evening with several visitors from Fairbury in attendance. Ice cream was served after the gathering.

Corn planting week continues on the farms. The Farmers elevator shipped out a car of wheat yesterday. Gypsies passing through town Monday. A daughter born May 19 to Mr and Mrs Alfred Sisk northeast of town. Mrs Henry Challis of St Joe visited sister Mrs J A Taylor. Mrs I L Marsh returned from Baileyville Kansas. Four Ames children nearing recovery from light smallpox. Mrs Ames also ill. Body of Mrs Elizabeth Pickering from Omaha buried in Steele City cemetery.

The Nebraska supreme court holds telephone companies must provide reasonably prompt and efficient service to subscribers and are liable for pecuniary losses directly caused by a breach. Commencement Exercises for Steele City Schools

Schedule of events for commencement includes concerts and drill on school grounds at 10 30 A M. Alumni luncheon to be arranged with attendance requirements, basket dinner at parks, streamers and senior class day on May pole service at 8 00 P M at the Opera House. Diplomas and scholarships presented by Supt Humphreys Mrs Lowe and Rev Davies.

Fat Lincoln visitor helps Russell on Steele City farm

F Bryant once a Steele City citizen now in Lincoln, visited last Friday and helped Russell on the farm. He plans to return home tomorrow after noting a bakery sign reading Lunches Served Here and quipping about feeding people. The exchange ends with a remark from a bakery counter staff.

Annual School Meeting Agenda for Jefferson County Nebraska

The annual meeting of the legal voters of School District No. 1 of Jefferson County Nebraska will be held at the high school in Steele City on Monday June 13 1922 at 2 oclock p m for electing two trustees and to consider a levy of 35 mills with excess to support schools next year.
