Barn and Hay Fires Fire Devastates Garrels Farm area

A barn on the Garrels farm two miles south and three east of Diller burned last Friday night at about 10 o clock. Ten to twelve tons of hay 200 bushels of corn three horses four mules and other items were lost. A second fire at Martin Dickmans and J W Foute farms east of Diller burned eight to ten tons of alfalfa and kaffir corn hay after threshing. The blaze began while the threshing crew dined and nearly reached the machine before the seed burned. It was a close call for the barn.
