Local items report council meeting planned for tomorrow night and several residents moving into new homes or stores in Steele City area. Frosts, wet spells, and heavy rainfall noted with crops and hog markets showing activity. Hogs for sale and businessean updates from Fairbury Lincoln and Havana Cuba visits also listed.
The annual meeting of Steele City Improvement Co stock holders will be held at their hall on Tuesday evening May 8. All stock holders are requested to be present as officers are to be elected for the coming year. Other business of importance will be transacted. W. E. Willey, Secretary.
E Johnson from Helvey Nebraska opens a general store in Steele City in the Ellermeier building. His family rooms with A H Phelps while securing a house as townsfolk note no vacancies. Mrs Mowry suffers severe burns in a lamp accident. her son also burned aiding her and Mr Mowry hurt by a spedo meter incident. both families receive community support and prayers for recovery.
The governor designated Sunday May 13 as Mothers Day. Mr and Mrs Ensley Carmichael returned yesterday from a week long visit in Marshall county Kansas.
