Rat Bite Threatens Diller Area Infant
The fourteen month old daughter of Mr and Mrs Paul Beckwith near Diller was bitten by a rat while sleeping, receiving thirty tooth marks and a deep gash on her left finger. A physician treated the wound and the child is recovering.

Boy Hurt by Train in Farmland Crossing Crash
The twelve year old son of Mr and Mrs Lawrence Logan living five miles south of Jansen was severely injured Thursday evening April 24 when the wagon he rode was struck by a Rock Stand passenger train. He suffered broken legs below and above the knee and was taken to a hospital at Fairbury where he was reported to be improving.

Local Youth Sustains Serious Injury in Ride
Irvin Franzen, son of I Pras Zen living three miles northeast of town, met with a serious accident a week ago Sunday when his horse bolted at a passing car. He was thrown, breaking his arm and receiving heavy bruising. He was treated at Fairbury.
