Dick Dollar and Ms Applebee bargain over goods while Rosaline prepares, guards the plan, and Turner frets about a potential intruder. The scene blends village gossip, domestic bustle, and hints of broader suffrage unrest in the period.
A crowd talked of the world’s largest telescope and one quiet man spoke of not knowing if it was the largest. The scene turned tense as a man cried out in fear thinking a cannon fired. The crowd calmed as explanations lagged and fear subsided.
