Martha H. Yates born Bowling Green Kentucky December 1860 died at her home in March days. She moved as a child to Sangamon county Illinois and married Lorenzo S. Peterson January 3 at Springfield. They had seven children, five living, two died in infancy. The family later moved to Nebraska in 1874 near Fairbury. She helped organize a Rock Creek church and cared for the ill with quiet faith, leading a life of devotion. Five living children and many grandchildren survive. Her life is praised with the words Life's race well run Life's work well done Life's crown well won Now comes rest.
