Fred Willey captured a coyote yesterday. A son was born February 24 to Mr. and Mrs. A Pearson. The high school basketball team travels to Washington tonight. Many local folks and visitors are mentioned amid weather notes, car deliveries, church events, and a Red Cross auction planned for March 14 in Fairbury.
A piano bargain offers a slightly used instrument in very nice condition. For particulars contact The Piano Co. P. O. Box 516 St. Joseph Mo.
The couple married on Thursday February 21 at the brides father OOM Bote home in Linesin with few relatives present. The bride Amy Holcomb has been principal at Steele City high school for three years and the groom Cletus Bugbee is from Steele City. Out of town guests included the Bugbees of Steele City and An drew Anderson of Beatrice. The newlyweds planned housekeeping in the south part of town.
On February 23 the Ladies' Aid Society hosted a farewell in the M. E. church for four families soon moving to Colorado LaHarpe and Robinson Kansas and Fairbury. About one hundred friends attended a social hour followed by cake and coffee and prayers for their new homes.
A county wide Red Cross campaign organized a Monday meeting to appoint six district committees and three local solicitors to canvass their areas. The drive aims to collect money or saleable items for a Thursday auction in Fairbury where all proceeds go to the Red Cross.
Citizens are urged to donate items for a Red Cross auction to support war relief. Donated goods may include livestock, poultry, machinery, household items, and produce. Solicitors will visit homes to collect contributions and explain delivery points. Proceeds go to the Red Cross with no labor payment. Attend on the 14th to boost bids and support the cause.
