High Water in Little Blue River Causes Severe Crop Loss
Heavy rains north and west of town pushed the Little Blue River beyond its banks late last week. By Friday noon the river flooded, with swift currents preventing crossing at the west and south bridges. The water receded and rose again Saturday evening, staying wide and flooding fields. Farmers report extensive corn, wheat, and oat damage with replanting unlikely this late.
