Several residents are mentioned visiting relatives in Lincoln University Place Davenport and Beatrice while others report purchasing buggies from Lowe Bros and building plans near town. A 13 piece Odell band will provide music for Steele City's Fourth of July celebration. Posters announce the event while smaller fall program posters will be printed soon. Local residents visited Fairbury and Lincoln, with weather bringing a brief lightning strike to Hicks' house but causing no damage.

Joshua Robertson died Sunday June 4 at his Nebraska home near Stevle City. Born 1849 in Huntmerton county Pennsylvania, he moved to Nebraska in 1878 settling on a farm northeast of town. He is survived by his wife Mias Lyman, three daughters, one son, three brothers, two sisters, and was a member of Masons Eastern Star Woodmen and Workmen. Funeral services were held by the Masonic order with Eastern Star assistance at Prairie Home cemetery Wednesday.
