A letter from Wm. Wagner of Thayer Kansas says crops of small grain are very good and a fine corn crop is expected. Some early corn shows roasting ears while recent rains totaled 1.84 inches. A Monday night storm with strong winds toppled a crib at Ed Thrapp’s and blew down C C An drew’s silo, along with many trees and limbs.

Saturday morning Steele City mourned Electa M Wooldridge Partlow born March 25 1842 New York state died July 25 1914 at 72. Four months after a fall possibly from apoplexy. Widow of Simon Partlow died 1909 mother of nine children five surviving Robert Dan Oliver Mrs C R Bracken and Mrs John Cart. She leaves two brothers Frank Wooldridge and W Varley and a sister Mrs Wilson. She lived a faithful Christian life and raised her family in Steele City.
