The Newton precinct Democratic caucus named candidates for precinct offices including Justice of the Peace Jack Hill and Constable J A Jacks. Assessor R T Garrett and Road Overseers Wm Roulston John Boettcher Steve Maw John Hartzell were chosen. Delegates to the county convention include Dr Taylor G D Taylor Kling McCandlass R T Garrett and others. C C Andrews will attend the state convention. Dr Taylor was selected precinct committeeman.
A town hall Republican caucus drew large crowds as H. E. Clapp was elected chairman and A. D. Rough secretary. Precinct officers were nominated with R. Zweifel and L. S. Peterson named as justices of the peace and W. O. Luhm and W. O. Bundy as constables. Art Hamley chosen as assessor. road overseers listed for districts 40 41 28 16. Members elected to county positions included H. E. Clapp A. L. Broads ton J. P. Reynolds H. B. Rucker E. Hamley Art Hamley L. S. Peterson Dana Bugbee A. E. Weddel A. Bower. At the county convention L. S. Peterson was elected a delegate to the state convention and named precinct committeeman.
