A brush fire burned parts of five to six pasture sections just across the state line on the 4th, covering about one section. Capt. Andrews returned to Boston with his daughter Mrs Bruce Meyers after a yearlong visit and his eyesight has returned. The State Historical Society plans monuments at the Kansas-Nebraska and Burlington crossings funded by landowner A Mayborn and Dawsons. County exhibits for the state fair face drought, crews work to keep top corn quality despite heat.
