A distracted stream of notes reports on literary tonight in town and the start of school on Monday. Several residents traveled to nearby Booneville and Lincoln for study, with local activities and social calls noted along the way.
Robber entered Jose Lures saloon Monday night and carried off over thirty gallons of whiskey. A back door hole and a cut lock were found. Burlington car house break in with track velocipede and rifle stolen. Velocipede cash found on branch track suggests trip toward Kansas. Detectives pursue leads.
Wood for sale includes ash wood chunks offered by Dr. DuVall in Hollenberg. County Convention of the D of H lodge set for Wednesday January 12 in Steele City, inviting all Jefferson County members to attend. Etta Minkler, C of H.
J. D. Minkler lauds his Ford for reliability and economy in a year and a half of livery use. The car covered 7,115 miles last year with only gasoline and oil costs. no breakdowns, tire punctures, or blowouts occurred.
A New Year party was held at Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Clark’s home last Friday for their son Francis visiting from Kemper Military School Booneville Missouri. The Oracle named Grace Faith Keila Reynolds Courage Ada M McDonald Modesty R H Clapp Endurance Bertha Care. The Marshal chose Belle Pearson as assistant. Refreshments served by committee R H Clapp Anna Bryant J Happy assisted by Katherine Clip.
