State crop reports show Nebraska crop value up 29.4 percent from last year totaling 361,096,000 dollars on December 1. Corn leads with 184,985,000 dollars. production per acre 44.2 bushels and yield declines in most crops, including corn down 106,009 acres and winter wheat down 168,000 acres.
The graduating class of 1924 from Stesle City High School held a get together Friday evening at the W C Palmer home. Wallace Palmer was a fine host, and all but three members attended.
A large Christmas tree stood on the bank corner and glittered with colored lights. A short program by high school and grade pupils preceded Santa Claus who distributed candy sacks to the children. Outdoor activities were thwarted by intense cold. Christmas Day was bright with sun but few warm temperatures and heavy snow.
A fire broke out under a balcony as three thousand attended a show in Omaha. Fireproofing and compartmentalization allowed staff to isolate the blaze and keep the audience safe while the department arrived to extinguish the flames.
