A formal notice from M. Bananas Road Dist of Steels City Neh Pel ia warns that placing engines on public highways is illegal and carries a penalty over $100. It also states that throwing whiskey and beer bottles on the road after emptying contents is a misdemeanor and will be prosecuted.
Rev J D Walker traveled to Lincoln on Monday. Frank Wells shipped a carload of sheep Monday. Serrel Savage shipped cattle last week. Miss Pansy Swett returned from Oklahoma last week. Almond Burst attended the League social and visited relatives Sunday. Mise Gill and Mrs Frank O Connell visited Mrs Henry Jones Tuesday. Mrs Mae Smith of Wymore visited relatives here, returning Saturday. T E Beach W Slaughter Frank Chancellor and Harvey Steiner are filling ice houses this week. The Ladies Aid met Grandma and Mary Riggleast Thursday. about twenty ladies attended. Grandma Arrice celebrated her seventieth birthday Monday with about thirty friends. Mr Frank Islen traded his property for a farm owned by Ellsworth. Ellsworth now runs the restaurant. The Epworth League held a social Saturday evening. Valentines were sold and mailed at the valentine post office, with peanuts and home made candy. Room decorated in League colors.
Six vases of smallpox are reported at Odell involving James Jerry and his four children Louis Crafford and Harry Barton Two homes are quarantined children are being vaccinated and precautions are taken to prevent spread The disease is said to have been brought from Hanover Kansas Dil
A fire alarm was sounded Thursday morning around seven thirty, reporting a fire at 928 Ninth Street, the Kennedy residence. Firefighters found no fire damage, blamed on a defective fund. location described as Pairbury nowa with confusing text about Kanhedy Urat and Steele City.
Fire at Barnes last Friday night around nine destroyed the six room Barnes schoolhouse. Five teachers were employed there. The building was insured for six thousand dollars, but indebtedness reduces the expected rebuilding funds to about two thousand after bond clearance. No decision yet on plans to rebuild one new house with local funds and state support.

In Odell region a wolf roundup near Jack Hill schoolhouse drew crowds last Thursday with wolves seen but few captured. A separate event Monday northeast of Odell drew about five hundred attendees as shooting occurred when bullets strayed injuring Frank Vitosh Jr and three others. Vitosh was treated in Wimoe, bullets could not be located. A further hunt is planned just west of Odell on February 17 with firearms restricted to captains.
