Mrs Bertha Carr and Mr Elmer Hoppes of Des Moines were married at 8 o'clock on Christmas night with Rev Heyhove Crewe officiating. Best man and bridesmaid were Prof. Smith of Dyler and his bride. About thirty to forty guests attended and the Ladies Aid Society served cake and coffee. Mrs Hopper received four silver berry spoons and a gravy ladle. The couple will reside in Des Moines. The following week Geo Porter reported a home robbery after finding Mrs Porter bound in a chair. Two intruders entered, blindfolded her, and fled as neighbors assisted.
Deputies searched after thieves raided the Woodman lodge house taking about $185, including $150 in old money. Mrs Porter says funds were kept at home due to illness, while Porter suspects an automobile getaway. Deputy Tippin investigated but found no trace of the robbers as a passing car was heard.
