Family notices flag deaths and travel in Windsor Omaha Boston
Mrs Chas Hunnicutt left Sunday for Windsor Missouri after a telegram said her father was very sick. Her father died Wednesday morning, Mrs Lydia Myers returning to Boston, Capt Andrews remaining in Omaha for a time. Capt J S Taylor’s discharge was revoked delaying his return. An earlier item announced the 40th wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs William Pearson on Sunday December 1. No further details available.

Death of Roe E Campbell After Wounds in Action
Roe Ellsworth Campbell died from wounds received in action on November 19. He enlisted in the U S Marines at Butte Montana on April 8 1918 and served in France where he sacrificed his life. Born February 23 1899 in Beatrice Nebraska he later lived in Steele City and taught school in Marion Nebraska. He is survived by a father and two sisters. The family receives heartfelt sympathy from the community.

Box Supper at Sevier Schoolhouse for Junior Red Cross
A box supper will be held at the Sevier school house two miles west of Steele City next Thursday night December 19. A Yuletide program precedes the box sale and proceeds go to the Junior Red Cross in that district. Ribbons accompany the boxes. Amy Palmer, teacher.

Courage Under Fire Recommendation For Arthur Birch
Arthur M. Birch of the Medical Detachment, 110th Field Signal Battalion, Kansas, serving in France, is recommended by his captain for bravery under shell fire during a major September drive. Birch and a comrade stayed with their wounded officer to provide aid as others sought shelter.
