Thanksgiving dinner honors Mrs Hiner with visiting kin
Thanksgiving day was a pleasant occasion for Mrs Hiner as sons William Charles and Arthur Weddel and her brother E A Bugbee joined for dinner. The elder Bugbee, now in his 90s, was among guests along with Mrs Wm Weddel and her son Harry. A surprise party honored Miss Opal Sheaffer on December 6 at the Commercial Hotel for her eleventh birthday.

Man Killed En Route to Work in Des Moines Interurban Crash
John Carr of Steele City was fatally injured when struck by a Colfax interurban at Cleveland and 33rd in Des Moines at 6 AM on Friday December 1. He died hours later at Mercy Hospital. Carr, 52, was en route to work and had been in Des Moines to care for his ailing wife. The body shipped home for burial. funeral held December 5. Survived by his wife and one daughter. Carr born February 18, 1864 in Preston Missouri. long-time Steele City resident.
