Mixed Shower For Mrs Rosener At Vera Staley Home

Mrs. Rosener received a miscellaneous shower at the Vera Staley home on Saturday evening August 22 with twenty five guests. A mock wedding image with Mildred Wallace as bride Leona Staley as groom and Margaret Bridwell as minister entertained the group while gifts were hidden by strings in five porch rooms and later untangled by Mrs Rosener who thanked friends for gifts and refreshments of ice cream and cake.

Young Davis Boy Injured in Wagon Accident

Cecil Davis, son of Ed Davis, suffered a broken arm and facial bruises Monday morning after falling from a wagon driven by Dell Cox. He was taken to a Fairbury doctor who set the arm and reports he is progressing nicely.

Friday evening closes Steele City's four day Chautauqua after performances of Across the Street Pamahaskia’s Pets and Her Temporary Husband. United Chautauquas of Des Moines won next year’s contract amid a small deficit. A two day Citizens Picnic at Barr’s Grove drew many locals and Woodmen baseball faced Hollenberg with a distant appeal.

Bigger and Better Babies Health Dept at Jefferson County Fair

The Clinics of the Babies Health Department at the Jefferson County Fair plan more space this year and expect 208 registrations. Eligibility covers six months to school age in the Improvement Class. A State Health Department nurse will attend the Babies Health Building for the last three days to answer questions and conduct conference work.
